Local Spotlight #10 - Candid Cafe

Our local spotlight this week is Candid Cafe, which truly is a very hidden (and secret to most) gem! One that everyone here at Prime loves to visit regularly.

Why we love Candid Cafe

If you are looking a place to escape from the busyness of Angel High Street, for a wonderfully peaceful oasis - Candid Cafe is the place for you.

Whilst you take in the calm, you can enjoy a delicious range of drinks, coffee, pastries, and cakes. They also offer a mediterranean inspired menu. You can try dishes like “aubergine, courgette and lentil dhal”, and “mozzarella, avocado, feta salad”. Find out what’s on the menu this week by visiting their Instagram here.

This place is off the beaten track, and busy high street - and offers delightful treats and a more authentic cafe experience to the standard chains you see all over London.

What makes Candid Cafe special?

As it is so hidden, fewer venture inside, making it a real treat for a handful of locals and people who know about it…

The Candid Cafe is situated on the second floor of Candid Arts. The Candid Arts is the largest space in Islington, hosting 50+ creative practitioners in their studios. They host lots of events, from life drawing classes, to film nights, to sketch the musicians….take a look here to find out more.

The cafe must be inspired by the floors below, as it is filled with fun artwork, and interesting bits and pieces! There are boardgames available to play, or a quiet place to work, read and unwind. As we are welcoming this warmer weather too you can take advantage of their courtyard, and bask in the sunshine.

How to get there

From leaving Prime Angel, turn right up towards Angel station. When you reach the ‘do what you love’ blue sign, turn right. Walk a little down and you will spot the sign for the cafe. After this, climb the stairs and you will then reach Candid Cafe, your “refuge from the hustle & bustle of Angel”. Check it out on maps here.
